I ordered jeans with precise measures, they arrived with all measures at least 1-2 inches bigger.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Took measurements exactly as instructed on their website. The jeans arrived at least two sizes too big. I took photos of their jeans with the tape measure showing all the measures were off. They wanted an additional $40.00 to remake the jeans to the measures I provided and refused to admit their measures Did not match my request. They said they routinely adjust the measures. So what is the point of providing the measures you need if they change them? Makes no sense. They refuse to refund or remake the jeans. Total scam.

Contacting

a company that you cannot make contact with are not to be trusted. since going to Mumbai this outfit has gone down hill very quickly. i had great contact while made in England but, that is some years back. What a pity., i am aware that this is my opinion but i sure hope others take heed. i still have my last ones from early 2020 with the tags still on and the legs suitable for 5ft 8 and i am 5ft 2. they gape at the back and i loathe pants that do that. In fact not too much of good to write about. take care. Be wary of your measurements given.

Took 4 weeks! Jeans were WAY too short, too big around the waste, cheap material and the legs ride up when you walk. I had someone measure me carefully so I don't know how this happened. Customer service is terrible and very condescending. They charge a hefty fee if you want to send back unless you've chosen their "fit guarantee" which only includes a handful of options and it's not easy to find on their site. Total scam!!!

Please dont do it. Its not worth it girl. These are the most ridiculous looking jeans aka capris. They wont guarantee 100 percent guarantee because only about 6 pants have the guarantee but its misleading because you think they all do. After numerous emails i was told I was not going to receive a refund. Terrible terrible Marla Davila

CAVEAT EMPTOR [BUYER BEWARE]!! GOING BK??? I bought a pair of jeans from them back in early March. Then the COVID pandemic hit. Their website went from working on backorders to now taking orders. As of today (July 6, 2020) now about 4 months later, I still have not received my order. The weird thing is that they are still taking orders...sound like either a scam now and they are just taking peoples money or they are probably going BK (how can they be planning to retain customers when they over 4 mos to complete an order??)!

Nothing that you should spend your money and time for

Make Your Own Jeans - Nothing that you should spend your money and time for
Nothing that you should spend your money and time for There three main points to consider any custom manufacturing which are true for MakeYourOwnJeans too. 1. What you see is NOT what you get 2. Any small error in measurement leads to huge disappointment 3. It is always more expansive than to buy a-ready-for-use product The fabrics itself does not look and feel as good as you can imagine; just average jeans material like that you find at Walmart. If you are not professional sewer, you'd better stop to try to measure yourself. Even though you provide them with correct measure, they can make it very different. Yes, they are ready to fix any mistake; however, it takes another few weeks, and of course, you should pay again shipping and customs fees. After a couple such 'back-and-forth' tries you simply get something that you are not happy with. If you read this review because of hesitation, your guts don't fool you. Is it worth trying? Obviously not. Just go to the closest store (or even online where you know for sure your usual size) and buy new Diesel, for example.

Terrible product

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Despite my careful measuring, the finished product was a mile too big. I can take my jeans on and off without ever using the zipper. If I wanted jeans that don’t come close to fitting me, I can get those at Walmart for half the price I paid at Make Your Own Jeans.

Good experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
To be honest, I did not read the company reviews until after I placed the order. Many of the reviews were not great, but I decided to see what happens. The package arrived in less than a week, and when I tried it on, it fit like a glove. A number of years ago, I sewed my sisters bridal gown, so I know a bit about garment construction. This suit is absolutely beautifully made. The details are the same as you would find in a much more expensive suit. This is a black linen suit. You must make your own allowances for any "wiggle" room, as the garment will be made to the measurements you give them. This is a beautiful custom garment! Best, Tim Karau

Less than a week?? Your calendar is obviously broken! Also very suspicious.

It's all a scam

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I ordered 1 pair of jeans and they arrived only to fit skin tight in the thigh area. Contacted MYOJ via email and 3 weeks and 6 emails later, exchanging pictures with measurements, wearing the jeans etc.

only to receive emails saying their "cutting log" indicates the jeans fit me. don't fall for the “if you are not satisfied with the fit, simply let us know and we’ll give you a free remake” because they wont.

Its a scam and this company is a total fraud. They don't stand behind their product and their "guarantee" is only their to get you to place the order, after that, its worthless.

Make Your Own Jeans - Substandard construction

Ordered a sport jacket. Absolutely horrible craftsmanship. Misaligned pieces and bunched seams. Product was substandard. Cannot wear it. A waste of time and money. Contacting Better Business Bureau

I have submitted pictures and descriptions of my dissatisfaction and the substandard construction issues were totally ignored. The garment was not properly constructed and I want to be reimbursed.

I was told that the measurements at the factory were correct. ITs NOT JUST THE FIT!........It’s the construction. The front panels of the jacket are misaligned and do not match in length. The seams in the arms are bunched which indicates that the pieces were not laying flat when sewn.

You cannot run a business with this shoddy construction and expect people to accept it.

PayPal will not help customers who buy custom items so they were useless. All they did was delay me by pretending to consider the matter when the truth is, they never considered finding in my favor. I repaired the button, it wasn't difficult, but AVMAN, that isn't the...

Original review Jun 22, 2018
First I ordered a pair of jeans from these folks to test the process. The jeans I ordered came in two or three weeks, reasonable since they are custom made and shipped from India so delivery was okay I thought. I opened the package there was a make your own jeans bag and inside of that in individual cellophane wrapper the pair of jeans. Not bad I thought. I was satisfied with the quality but they were a bit snug (my fault honestly).
I received a "special email offer" from them to get two pairs of jeans (not exactly the same as my originals) for about what I paid for the first pair so I thought I'd give them a second try. So I adjusted my measurements accordingly for what I'd learned on my first purchase and placed my order.
Again the jeans came in 2-3 weeks, no problem since they are being shipped from India. Again there was the bag and inside the two pair of jeans packaged individually. I opened the first pair and tried them on. The size adjustments I made were just what I needed. The first perfect fitting jeans I have had in 20-30 years since my um... shape changed. I opened the second pair of jeans to try them on and the front button fell off before I could even get them on. Oh well... I've had this problem before with cheap jeans from wally world and I can fix them by going by a sewing center and buying some jean buttons and popping them on. Still, I had paid for custom jeans and this was inconvenient and poor quality control. All they had to do was give a good tug to the button to make sure it had crimped into place properly and they could have fixed this problem before shipping but NO, they didn't.
I thought, this is now an opportunity to find out whether this company is ethical or not. So I sent them an email with a photo showing the problem to see what their response was. Their offer was for me to have them fixed locally (which I expected) and they would give me a 10% off "gift certificate" for my next order.... I thought well, that's probably $10 bucks off which will cover the cost of fixing the jeans but it also rewards the company for their failure by giving them another order and it does nothing in the here and now to reward me for the inconvenience. Screw the $10, the real cost to me is the time spent getting these jeans fixed. 20-30 minutes drive, another 20-30 talking to the store about what I need and then yet another 20-30 minutes to get home and that's assuming that they are willing to make the alteration while I wait or I get to waste another hour or so picking the jeans up.
I sent them an email explaining my concerns. I received a response the next day. It didn't address my concerns at all. It simply restated their original offer. Hello PayPal, dispute on the way. My problem is small. They could have mailed a button or package of buttons. They could have refunded $5, $10, whatever. But instead they give me a stone wall. What do you think their response would be if the jeans were made properly beyond a button, what if they were cut or sewn wrong and couldn't be fixed? A quick internet search gave me the answer, they would have offered a 20% or 30% discount on a future order. GOOD BYE MAKE YOUR OWN JEANS!!! I'm glad this lesson only cost me $69.

The missing button is the least of the problems. Having to deal with poor quality control is the issue and the company's refusal to own the problem is the lesson learned.

Buy from them at your own risk. Be glad it didn't cost a lot more to learn that make your own jeans/Harry Fashion does not take responsibility for their own mistakes.

The offer was more than reasonable. The value of a button is pennies - the buyer's ineptitude at being able to affix a button is no fault of a company. The button could have come loose for a myriad of reasons - and it is not normal for a company to reimburse for "lost wages" - which is the equivalent of what is being asked when someone complains about time.

The seller made the mistake and wanted the purchaser to be inconvenienced. The missing button is the least of the problems.

The inconvenience of dealing with it is the problem. The seller should not get a reward (additional purchase) for screwing up an order.

Avoid like the plague

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This company is dishonorable. I paid $130 for a pair of trousers.

They arrived without belt loops. I complained and they blamed me. Then they agreed to take them back to fix the problem, if I paid $ 20 for return shipment to India. They guaranteed it would cover shipment both ways.

I accepted the deal and now I was in for a total of $150. Then, they changed the terms of the deal after they had my $20 and demanded for me to pay for a second shipping charge to another stateside address. That means they held me up for more money. When I refused they offered my credit toward the next purchase, as if I was ever to buy anything form them ever again.

Now I am stuck with pants wit no belt loops, I am out $150 and obviously don't trust to return the pants to them. Once they have them, they would just try to extort money. Also, be aware that they are in India.

Paypal Protection does not apply to any custom orders, no matter what. So this was one big, bad sour deal.

I'm sure that distance and cost of shipping to and from India causes part of the problem in dealing with this company but that fact should also mean that they inspect their goods before shipping them. I ordered jeans from them and took a pair out of the bag and the button fell off of them... :-(

Try a Different Online Tailor

Pants matched dimensions submitted. Didn't fit much better than a store-bought pair. Maybe online isn't the way to go with tailoring. The material was like paper thin. Their prices seemed good, so I ordered more than one pair to dilute the crazy shipping fees. They shipped the order in separate parcels. I also didn't realize it was shipping from India. The result: Double Customs Fees. Ouch. The worst part was dealing with their C/S Department. Robotic and unhelpful. North Americans, try somewhere else. I need 100 words for a review, so I will say this again: North Americans, try somewhere else.

Very helpful regarding the lack of quality in the fabric as well as having to pay custom fees for all the shipments.
